AI App Store

AI App Store

Markdown

A curated catalogue of AI apps, tools and open models for the Mac and iPhone, at apps.mlx.app. Each listing links the maker's official download and says what it costs, its licence and where your data goes, with dated sources.

The AI App Store is how MLX Node "finds you the best AI for it". It is live on the web at apps.mlx.app since 1 Nov 2026 (it opened at mlx.app/store, which now redirects there). Since version 0.17 it is also inside MLX Node, in a window of its own: MLX Node installs a maker's download only when Apple has notarized it and the maker's signature matches the listing, and for command-line tools it copies the command and opens Terminal, never runs it (see Links).

Paid apps and open source sit side by side. Nothing is re-hosted: every download button goes to the maker's own site, the Mac App Store or App Store, Homebrew, npm, PyPI, GitHub or Hugging Face.

What a listing says

Every listing is a JSON entry in the mlx.app repository (lib/store/entries/<category>.json, types in lib/store/types.ts), checked by scripts/store-check.mts before it ships:

  • Price: free, freemium, paid or subscription, with the price and period where the maker states one.
  • Data: local (runs on your Mac), cloud or both.
  • Licence: an SPDX id for open source, or proprietary.
  • Platforms: the oldest macOS and iOS versions the maker states, any, or null when it isn't available there.
  • How to get it: the maker's download, the Mac App Store or App Store, a Homebrew cask or formula, an npm, pip or uv command, a website, or a model's page on mlx.app/run. A direct download pins the maker's Developer ID team and bundle id.
  • Sources: every fact links where it came from and the day it was checked.

Neutrality

There is no paid placement, there are no paid ratings and there are no affiliate links. The MLX Score comes only from public data. A person approves every listing; see Listings.
