Changelog
Changes to the API, the protocol rules and these docs, newest first.
| Date | Change |
|---|---|
| 2 Nov 2026 | The AI App Store is in MLX Node, in a window of its own, since MLX Node 0.17: mlx:// store links open it, a maker's download installs only when Apple has notarized it and the maker's signature matches the listing, and command-line tools are copied into Terminal, never run. These docs no longer call it coming. |
| 1 Nov 2026 | The AI App Store is live on the web at apps.mlx.app: a curated catalogue of AI apps, tools and open models for the Mac and iPhone. New: the signed GET /api/store/catalog (Ed25519 by the sequencer's key over SHA-256 of "mlx-store-v1\n" + payload), storeRev in the heartbeat reply, the MLX Score from public data only, and the listing rules. mlx://store links come with MLX Node 0.17 (Links). |
| 1 Nov 2026 | Local AI now documents mlx-lm's own server (mlx_lm.server), from mlx-lm's server guide: quickstart, chat completions and models. The earlier local gateway pages (authentication, tool calling, coding agents) are gone. |
| 31 Oct 2026 | Messages and gifts. The operator can send a message to chosen wallets, shown in MLX Node 0.16 (its notification centre) or pushed to MLX.app on iPhone and iPad; a message may carry a gift (MLX, USDC or a seat) and a claim deadline. New system transaction gift (paid when the wallet claims, once). New: msgRev in the heartbeat reply, POST /api/worker/messages and POST /api/worker/claim (device-signed), public GET /api/gift/{id} (?for=<wallet> adds forYou and claimed) and wallet-signed POST /api/gift/claim {id} (403 another wallet's, 409 already claimed, 410 expired). |
| 30 Oct 2026 | GET /api/supply counts moves between protocol accounts and locks: each paid entry adds movedIn, movedOut, moves, holds, locked and paidOut. Before, paid was allocation minus balance, so the seat reserve's move to treasury.mlx read as a negative payout of the treasury and team.mlx's vesting locks as paid. GET /api/token supply.protocol adds paidOut and moves. Resetting the network is off on mainnet. Protocol accounts lists who holds which key. |
| 29 Oct 2026 | Mining referral shares are 20% / 4% / 0.8% by level (KOL 25 / 5 / 1, strategic 30 / 6 / 1.2); bonuses start 18:00 UTC. Wallets are invite-only from 16:30 UTC: create_account must carry the referrer of an existing wallet (400 "An invite is needed…" otherwise). Wallets with a linked Mac then are epoch 0 (system transaction epoch0, account field epoch0; GET /api/referrals/{name} adds epoch0). The default spot buy premium is 3%. |
| 29 Oct 2026 | MLX Node 0.14.4 sends hwid in the heartbeat: a hash of the Mac's hardware UUID made on the Mac (never the UUID). One Mac is paid once an hour however many device keys it has, the Mac-moves limit follows the hardware, a referral needs different hardware on both sides, and a key that reports other hardware keeps its first. New suspicious-account flags mac-keys and mac-hwid. See One Mac counts once. |
| 29 Oct 2026 | Tokenomics v2. The curve's doublings lengthen: 200,000 ($20 million), then 300,000 ($30 million), then 400,000 ($40 million), then 500,000 ($50 million) for every doubling after (DOUBLINGS, halvingAt, doublingLength); the network was still in the first doubling, which is unchanged. /api/curve and /api/token compute nextAt and progress from the new lengths. Seats move the curve at 50% of their units (seatCurveUnits). The seat reserve moved to treasury.mlx (system transaction reallocate). Mining referrals: compute_reward payouts can carry refs, new system transaction ref_tier, new GET /api/referrals/{name}, and the heartbeat's earning adds refToday, refLocked and refTier. The default sell discount is 20%. |
| 29 Oct 2026 | Every linked Mac mines: a wallet's seats are carried by its biggest Macs (carryOrder, the Mac linked first breaking a tie) and every other Mac mines on its own free seat, throttled; before, a wallet without a seat earned from its best Mac only and Macs beyond its seats earned nothing. The heartbeat reply's earning.seat is now per Mac. freeNodes on World counts Macs. Fair use limits: 5 free-seat Macs per network an hour, a Mac links to at most 3 different wallets in 30 days (bind_device answers 409), buying MLX is limited to $2,500 a wallet a UTC day ($25,000 with a linked Mac; swap and a deposit with receive: "MLX" answer 409), and 25 new wallets a day per address. New suspicious-account flag mac-hops. |
| 28 Oct 2026 | MLX Node 0.11 gets an Apps page that installs and updates MLX apps: the signed catalog GET /api/apps, announcements at GET /api/inbox, catalogRev and inboxRev in the heartbeat reply, mlx://apps and mlx://install?app=. MLX Node 0.12 has the MLX Wallet built in and links its Mac with a native bind_device. See The wallet in MLX Node. |
| 28 Oct 2026 | US persons: only the country of the request in hand decides. The 30-day refusal from anywhere after a refused attempt is gone, a seat recipient needs only its confirmation (an earlier sighting from the US no longer counts), and distributor commission is paused only on purchases made from the US. GET /api/attest no longer returns refused. |
| 28 Oct 2026 | Dedicated seats are transferable: the user transaction transfer_seat { "id": 12, "to": "luca.mlx" } gives a seat the sender holds to another wallet. Not a sale: nothing is paid and no commission is created. The recipient must have confirmed it isn't a US person (409 otherwise). Seat records add buyer and transfers; effects add kind: "seat". See transfer_seat. |
| 28 Oct 2026 | /api/worker/hello no longer sends earning.usdPerMlx: MLX Node doesn't show a dollar value next to what a seat mines. |
| 28 Oct 2026 | Sanctions screening: deposit senders and withdrawal destinations are checked against OFAC's SDN list of digital currency addresses. A match is held and never credited or paid; POST /api/tx refuses a withdraw to a listed address with 451. See Sanctions screening. |
| 28 Oct 2026 | US persons: a spot buy of MLX (swap paying USDC or USDT), buy_node, a seat checkout or a deposit with receive: "MLX" (POST /api/pay) and distributor applications answer 451 {error, code: "us"} from the United States and its territories, and 428 {error, code: "attest"} until the wallet confirms it isn't a US person with a signed POST /api/attest. The same requests answer 451 code: "sanctions" from sanctioned regions, and a wallet refused from the US stays refused for 30 days. Selling, sending and withdrawing to Solana are unchanged. See US persons. |
| 28 Oct 2026 | Suspicious accounts: GET /api/accounts?kind=suspicious, flags on flagged rows and GET /api/account/{name}?flags=1; explorer.mlx.app/accounts has the filter and each listed wallet's page says why. |
| 28 Oct 2026 | POST /api/tx refuses a malformed body at the door (400: an unknown type, an amount that isn't whole base units, a field that isn't a plain value) instead of storing it as a failed transaction. New limit: 10 new wallets an hour from one IP address; the failed-transaction limit is now 20 an hour. Names with a staff word as one of their parts (official-…, …-support) are reserved. Public reads show a failed transaction's body in a short plain form (bodyTrimmed: true). See Submitting. |
| 27 Oct 2026 | MLX Node 0.10.0: every job commits to the model's hidden states, and the server opens one slice per job and recomputes its MLP from the public weights. An audit for now. New: ids and commit in results, open in the reply and the next job request, POST /api/worker/open, execution on GET /api/compute/work. See Execution checks. |
| 27 Oct 2026 | Deposits can arrive as MLX: deposit takes receive: "MLX", and the deposited USDC buys MLX at the spot buy price in the same transaction. The checkout's "You receive" defaults to MLX Token; POST /api/pay takes receive (MLX or USDC, default USDC). See transaction types. |
| 27 Oct 2026 | The Compute API opens as a pilot, to every wallet: POST /v1/chat/completions at api.mlx.app, run on dedicated seats' Macs and checked by a second Mac, paid in USDC. New transactions api_fund, api_refund and compute_bill; protocol account api.mlx; the console. See Compute API. |
| 27 Oct 2026 | Jobs are shared, and answers judged, only between Macs of one GPU group (M1, M2, M3–M4, M5 and newer), because different GPU generations can honestly give different greedy answers. Quality counts start again (cr:q2). See GPU groups. |
| 27 Oct 2026 | Contributors' MLX in team.mlx is vested on the ledger: the system transaction vest turned it into 48 monthly locks, the first unlocking on 18 Nov 2026. See Protocol accounts. |
| 27 Oct 2026 | POST /api/tx answers 401 when a transaction isn't signed by its sender's key, before any per-wallet limit counts it. See Submitting. |
| 27 Oct 2026 | GET /api/log/checkpoint?size=N returns the signed checkpoint at an earlier tree size. See Checkpoints. |
| 27 Oct 2026 | docs.mlx.app opens: Local AI, Network API, Transactions, Integrity, Protocol, MLX Node and Resources. |
| 27 Oct 2026 | Jobs come from the v2 stream (qwen05-2s<i>, qwen05-2f<i>): prompts are drawn from a seed only the sequencer holds. v1 ids still resolve. See Jobs and checks. |
| 27 Oct 2026 | A Mac's chip is checked against its model identifier and its measured speed before it decides what a seat earns. See Jobs and checks. |
| 27 Oct 2026 | Dedicated seats' delivery counts one job per 15 eligible seconds, from 18:00 UTC. See Rewards. |
| 27 Oct 2026 | New: GET /api/compute/work: the paid share of the network's tokens, cross-chip agreement and the chip speed check. |
| 26 Oct 2026 | Solana withdrawals are paid automatically through Circle CCTP; the fee is 0.5 USDC. |
| 25 Oct 2026 | Ledger integrity: transparency log, signed checkpoints, hourly state commitments, Mac witnesses, anchors. See Integrity. |
| 25 Oct 2026 | Public reads hide Mac computer names; they show the kind of Mac instead. |
| 20 Oct 2026 | Dedicated seats mine instead of paying a lump up front. |
| 19 Oct 2026 | Lock-ins version 2: days instead of months. See Lock-ins. |
| 18 Oct 2026 | Mainnet. |
