# Listings

What gets into the AI App Store, what keeps it there and what takes it out, and how to propose a listing or a correction. A person approves every listing.

The full rule book is [apps.mlx.app/rules](https://apps.mlx.app/rules) (source `docs/STORE-RULES.md`). In short:

## What gets listed

1. **AI, or directly for AI work**: apps, command-line tools, agents, local runtimes, models, MCP servers, browser extensions, iPhone apps and workflows.
2. **Runs on a Mac or an iPhone**: macOS 14 or later on Apple silicon, or a web or iOS app usable from a Mac.
3. **An official source**: the maker's site, the Mac App Store or App Store, its GitHub or Hugging Face organisation, Homebrew, npm or PyPI. The store links the official download only and never re-hosts a binary.
4. **Signed downloads**: a Mac app installed from a disk image must be Developer ID signed and notarized. Its listing pins the Developer ID team and bundle id that MLX Node will check (see [Links](/store/links)).
5. **Alive**: a release or commit in the last 12 months, or an official store listing.
6. **Nothing harmful**: no malware, piracy, jailbreak, scraping or spam tools. Uncensored model builds are listed only with a clear label and are never featured.
7. **Factual**: what it does, price, platforms, licence and where your data goes, each fact with its source and the date it was checked.

## Flags and removal

A listing is flagged or removed when the project has been dead for 12 months, its download is broken, there is a security advisory (linked, with a banner, and installs paused) or the maker asks. A flagged listing stays visible with its reason (`flag` in the [catalogue](/store/catalog)).

## Who decides

An agent proposes new listings and changes from public sources: GitHub, Hugging Face, the App Store, Hacker News and the MLX community. Every proposal is checked by the same validator as the catalogue in git (`entryProblems` in `lib/store/validate.ts`) and waits in the admin until a person approves or rejects it. Nothing is published before that.

## Propose a listing or a correction

To propose a listing, write to [contact@mlx.app](mailto:contact@mlx.app?subject=AI%20App%20Store%20listing) with the app's name and its official links: the site, the download, and the App Store, GitHub, Hugging Face, Homebrew, npm or PyPI page where it has one. For a correction, write to [support@mlx.app](mailto:support@mlx.app?subject=AI%20App%20Store) naming the listing and linking the source that shows the right fact; every listing page has that address under "Something wrong?".

Makers can't pay to be listed, to rank higher or to change their score.

## Check the catalogue yourself

The listings in git are checked before every release:

```bash
npx tsx scripts/store-check.mts          # every entry: fields, sources, install paths
npx tsx scripts/store-check.mts --list   # and list them
```
